April: The Resurrection – Power, Promise, and Purpose

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.'" – John 11:25 (NIV)

April is a month of awakening. As nature blooms and the seasons shift, we also celebrate the most powerful moment in all of history: the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. More than a historical event, the Resurrection is the heartbeat of our faith, the anchor of our hope, and the power behind our purpose.

Why the Resurrection Matters

The Resurrection is not just something we celebrate on Easter Sunday—it’s something we live by every day. The empty tomb is proof that death has been defeated, sin has been overcome, and the enemy has been disarmed.

1 Corinthians 15:17 says, "If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins." Without the Resurrection, the cross is incomplete. But because He rose, we are:

  • Forgiven – Our past no longer defines us.
  • Free – The power of sin and shame is broken.
  • Filled – The same Spirit that raised Jesus lives in us (Romans 8:11).

The Power of the Resurrection

The Resurrection isn’t just a promise for the afterlife—it’s power for your present life.

  • Power to Overcome: No matter what is dead in your life—dreams, relationships, faith—Jesus is able to resurrect and restore.
  • Power to Endure: Resurrection power gives you strength when you feel weak, peace when the storm rages, and faith when doubt creeps in.
  • Power to Live Holy: Through the Holy Spirit, we can live victorious lives that honor God.

Living in Resurrection Purpose

Jesus didn’t rise just so we could have a celebration—He rose to commission us. After the Resurrection, Jesus told His disciples: “Go and make disciples...” (Matthew 28:19).

That means every believer carries a Resurrection assignment:

  • To share the good news of hope and eternal life.
  • To serve others with love and compassion.
  • To walk in purpose, authority, and boldness.

Resurrection Reflection: A Personal Question

What needs to be resurrected in your life this April?

  • Is it your joy?
  • Your faith?
  • A lost sense of direction or calling?

The good news is: Jesus still resurrects. He still revives. He still redeems.

April Challenge: Embrace the Empty Tomb

Let this month be more than a season of celebration—make it a season of transformation. Spend intentional time reflecting on what the Resurrection means for you personally, and ask the Lord to breathe new life into the places that feel dry or forgotten.

Declare this:

“Because He lives, I live. I walk in resurrection power. I am not who I was—I am who God says I am. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is alive in me!”

Let April be a month of resurrection in your heart, your home, and your hope. You serve a risen King—and that changes everything.
